Catholic Charities Hawai`i is a private, not-for-profit organization that was started by a small group of Maryknoll Sisters, when World War II's devastating impact reached the many families of Hawai'i. In 1944, Sister Victoria Francis, an experienced social worker, and a small group of Maryknoll Sisters, arrived in Honolulu to establish Catholic Charities, now known as Catholic Charities Hawai'i. In 1947 Catholic Charities Hawai`i was incorporated to serve the people of Hawai`i.

In the 1970s Catholic Charities Hawai`i began providing supportive services to seniors. Through our programs we serve approximately 5,000 seniors annually. These programs make it possible for seniors to continue living full, independent lives in the community and help delay or prevent institutionalization.

Today, Catholic Charities Hawai'i is an organization long trusted in the community for our innovative and professional approach to human services. With over 30 programs and services statewide, we help over tens of thousands of people a year. We have strived to maintain excellence in the delivery of services. Our commitment to excellence is affirmed by our accreditation from the Council on Accreditation (COA). COA is an independent and internationally recognized not-for-profit child and family service and behavioral healthcare accrediting organization.
